Help bring clean water to children one drop at a time
My name is Isabella and I am 12 years old. I started the Drop Foundation when I was 7 years old, in first grade. The Drop Foundation supplies clean water to villages in Africa. The idea first came to me in first grade, when we were learning about the lack of clean water in Africa (we were studying Africa that year) My teacher told us that not everyone had access to water, and sometimes even the people who had water got sick from it. I remember looking at the sink and thinking how can I have water so easily, and other people have to walk miles and might get sick from the water? That night, I asked my mom if I could start a company that would help the kids in Africa get clean water. My mom explained to me what a charity was, and Drop was born.
Soon enough, we had a website, and a site for our first well. A family connection helped us make sure the money got to the to the right place, and from then on all we had to do was fund raise. We have dug 3 wells, which have supplied clean water to thousands of people in Uganda. Currently, we are fundraising for our fourth well, that we have already begun to dig. It is located in Kyangabakama Primary School, and will serve 600 people.
This summer we are going back to Uganda to visit the sites of all the wells. We also will be bringing enough books to open another library. Please help me raise enough money so our current project can be completed!!!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED SO FAR!
About the Drop Foundation
Our goal is to raise enough money to dig one well a year. We would like to dig a well in every village in Uganda. The government in Uganda is helping us to identify one site a year where we can build a well and a library. The library in Kamira that we opened 2 summers ago is the first library housed in a primary school in all of Uganda.
